The Alchemist
A young shepherd repeatedly dreams of a treasure in the Egyptian pyramids. Driven by curiosity and longing, he sells his sheep, leaves the olive groves behind and sets off on an unknown journey.
Along the way, he meets various people who teach him to listen to his heart and recognise the signs of the universe:
• a king who teaches him about his ‘personal legend’
• a crystal merchant who teaches him patience and perseverance
• an English alchemist who teaches him wisdom and inner strength
He experiences danger, doubt and love. In the end, however, he discovers that the treasure was where his journey began, symbolising the realisation that the true treasure often lies within and that the journey itself is the path to learning.
